How To Make Lemons Last Longer

Yes, you've read the title right! I know, normally, when life gives you lemons, you're not trying to make them last any longer than possible, but this trick is for real, literal lemons. And it's so easy, if you're not practicing this tip already, you'll soon wish you had been.

At some stores, you might have to buy three or more at one time to get the best price. However, if your lemons go bad before you use them, then it's a lemon of a deal. Now, you can buy your lemons and enjoy all of them too!

Last year, I discovered that lemons will last for weeks if you store them a certain way. While helping a family member plan a party, I brought sliced lemons placed in a glass jar ready for guests. After the event, I still had a jar half full of lemon slices left over, which I placed back in my fridge. I was pleasantly surprised that week after week, the lemons still stayed fresh.

It makes perfect sense because the citric acid, that is released when they are cut open, keeps the slices preserved in a healthy, natural way. And the best part is they are already cut and ready for use! Just make sure you wash your lemons well before you slice them and keep them stored in the refrigerator. I used the 16 ounce jar, pictured below, to hold the slices of two large lemons, and it's one of my favorite visuals when I open the fridge.

Hope you enjoy this lemon and money saving tip!
