All I did was stand in awe and take pics of this amazing, beautiful blooming baby shower! Love to decorate, plan out parties, cook, bake and write calligraphy, but this time I was able to enter the party as a happily invited guest, blown away by all the creative sights at this sweet gathering. This post is mostly photos, so enjoy! Large strawberries dipped in white icing and then beautifully decorated with peach flowers. Sweet Petites Bakery supplied all these elegantly designed tasty treats and the gorgeous center piece cake. Whimsical white lattice, decorated up top with lights and real flowers, made for a wonderful photo backdrop. The impressive cake was dressed with colorful flowers, while lush greenery surrounded the base of it's stand. Lavishly decorated mini cupcakes and cheesecakes! Floral centerpieces of stunning beauty! Words of wisdom and truth written and displayed on the walls. Love to see that, beaming with sunshine, baby glow! Chocolate cake pops covered in white icing with decorative peach flowers. Yum! Above view of mini cupcakes along with cheesecakes! Creative way to display the sonogram pics. Love this patch work quilt and the verses stitched on the light pink squares! This dear precious couple knows in their hearts that . . . children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. Psalm 127:3-5 New Living Translation (NLT) Love how they surrounded themselves with scriptures as they celebrated the upcoming arrival of their newest addition! Jennifer's fabulous friends, Judith and Amy, who decorated and arranged this spectacular shower for her and her husband! Such amazing talents! Not pictured was her friend, Evelyn, who provided the amazing desserts from her Sweet Petites Bakery. Well this is the end of my pics from a most beautiful blooming baby shower. Hope you enjoyed and thanks for stopping by humble & bold! With Love,

Whew! The last couple of weeks have been an emotional whirlwind due to the graduations all around us. I was honored to be asked to decorate for my niece's graduation celebration. Below are pictures with ideas on how to decorate for almost any party, but tailored with a graduation theme in mind. I have several go to items that I have used for parties over the years, and hope this will give you some new ideas. Chalkboard Signs Highly recommend several sturdy chalkboards to personalize your party's theme. I have three that I use the most. The one pictured here was an old train table lid that I painted with chalk paint. I rolled up some white poster paper and tied a black ribbon around it to look like a large diploma. Large Letter of Honoree's Initial It's a personal way to decorate and leave as a gift for honoree to remember their special day. The letter H, that I bought on sale at Hobby Lobby and painted in her favorite turquoise color, was great for display at the sign in table. My niece will also have it to use in her dorm room, where she wants to use the same color scheme. Tea gifts Decorate a guest sign in table with party favors for guests to remember the event. The tea gifts are easy to assemble, and can also be used as a colorful decorative display. CIick here for simple instructions. I made sure there were extras for my niece to have for herself, and for making new friends in her dorm. Of course, also having chocolate on the table, as a parting gift, makes leaving much less sorrowful! Banners Visit the Dollar Tree to see if you can find inexpensive banners with appealing letters. Found a Congrats Grad banner for a dollar, then glued letters to pendants from ironed out paper bags, and used colorful paper trim to personalize. Balloons Always check with your local Dollar Tree first. The amount of money you save can go back into the party budget and give you way more for your money. Also, stagger your balloons vertically to give more of an impact. Lanterns These are great for color, and light up for evening parties. Unlike balloons, they can be used over and over again. Candy Bar While I'm not a big fan of promoting sugar, the candy bar does look appealing and accents any dessert table. Instead of filling large bowls with candy only, try using smaller bowls and crinkle paper filler in the bottom, to create a beautiful look. Left over chocolate can be sent off to college to share with friends, and any unwanted hard candy can be reused for future craft projects. Hula Hoop Wreath This creates a beautiful and unique look for your event. Link on how to make a hula hoop wreath here. You can hang a word, number or name in the middle. Centered at the base, I used one of my smaller chalkboards. Scrabble Tiles If you own a Scrabble board, you can use these tiles in their holders to make a sweet statement. I use Simply Tacky to the back of the tiles to hold them in place. Flowers For Planting Fresh cut flowers are great, but also consider using plant packs from your local garden store. Just place in recycled cans wrapped in burlap and ribbon for your event and then plant them later. Photo Booth You may have more than you realize when it comes to supplies for a photo booth. Take inventory of what you already have before overspending: an old frame, reading glasses, funny hats, books, signs to hold are just a few ideas. You will need a backdrop and signage to help guests know where to pose. After my niece's party, I went back to the chalk drawing boards to decorate for another amazing, young lady's graduation party. Just a few more pics to show. Love how this sign turned out with whale carved fruit bowl in front. This was one of those things where I had no idea the honoree's aunt had designed this watermelon whale bowl and would place it in front of this chalkboard. For some reason, I felt led to use a whale tail and hook design for the J letter, and a fish for the tail of the letter, y. It came together very well. So I guess we have come full circle in pictures. Hope these ideas help you plan and decorate a party for someone special! Would love to know if these tips were of help to you!

The theme this year was Angry Birds which included their rivals, the green repugnant pigs. Together you could have some verde eggs and ham, but I digress. Approaching the party, one could almost audibly hear every caw, cluck and cackle upon arrival to an array of indignant birds hanging out in the shady trees. Julie downloaded and printed out bird and pig faces and then pasted the bird faces to themed colored paper plates, and the pig faces to matching colored cups. The birds might have been angry and the pigs put in their place, but the guests were impressed and happy! Below are some pics of the party scene. Unsuspecting Angry Bird piñata got a taste of his own medicine when he took some pretty hard hits by many excited children. Julie made her own deliciously decorated cupcakes and her dad clamped a hand made sling for a stuffed angry bird to be slung into a stack of green cups with pig faces on the front. Again, I could hear those obnoxious pigs laughing and snorting but it was not for long! The adults, along with the children, had a blast slinging their squawking angry bird in the mist of those mocking pigs and watching them fall down. This game was a big hit! Instead of party bags, every child received their very own stuffed Angry Bird; which cut down on all the party favors that usually end up spread out all over house and vehicle. They serve as a fun soft memory; just remind children they cannot be thrown in car while mom or dad is driving home. (That didn't happen with the Angry Bird, but we did have a large stuffed penguin fly at us from the backseat one time.) Good reminder for children in learning car safety rules and for us; we learned that penguins can indeed fly if they are thrown, but again, I digress. These crafted decorations where bright, comical and added the perfect touch to the Angry Bird themed birthday party. They were easy to assemble with a short supply list: red and yellow, black and white paper plates, twine, hole puncher, paste and cut out printable faces (lots of free downloadable pics to choose in google search). Special thanks to my friend, Julie, for allowing me to share her creative ideas with humble and bold's readers. Hope you enjoyed the pictures and peaceful chirping to you! And it reminded me of a special lady we celebrated not too long ago. Her name is Audrey and she has been struggling with her gift wrap so to speak, but she sparkles through it all. I was honored to help decorate for her ninetieth birthday party and thought sharing these pictures would bring her some fond memories of a lovely day spent with family and friends. Below is a picture of Audrey sitting next to her little sister, Lorene, under a sassy and fun umbrella, sent from her family in Mississippi, The weather was warm and wonderful! Audrey's daughter brought not one, but three mouth watering delicious cakes. So beautifully decorated and yet all the while inviting a knife to make the first slice. Mmm, just mmm, the perfect way to end a Southern Menu! The beautiful wrought iron pops in front of a lavender, flat flowing sheet and the Scrabble letter tiles reminds Audrey of her mother's favorite game. Added my own mother's china, tea cups and saucers, to serve as elegant flower planters to join in the table centerpieces. Used a damask pattern gift wrap for table runners and hung decorative spheres to draw the eyes up inside of the tents; found wrap and spheres at Hobby Lobby. Standing above, Lorene gives a most beautiful tribute to her older sister and shared about their younger days and all the good times they had together. I never had a sister, so hearing Lorene tell some of their funny stories was really touching! Lorene, is also struggling with her health, but is shining brighter. Many pulled together for this special day hosted by the youngest sister, Brenda and her husband, Roger. It was a beautiful day that came and went too quickly. Below are just a few more pics: the welcome sign (that Audrey didn't see because she came through the kitchen door - ha ha), the quaint outdoor setting in waiting, the guest book with tea gifts for party goers, but my favorite pic is of Audrey's great niece in the background giving her toast to a special lady. Love the imagination! So to Audrey and Lorene, and all the beautiful jewels out there, we celebrate you! May we all shine brighter through the gift wrap.

Psalm 119:105 To check out my testimony click here To like my facebook page click here Find me on twitter @humble_bold Whether using items I already have or discovering great finds at yard sales, I enjoy seeing how it all comes together when decorating for St. Patrick's Day. This train table cover has been one of my favorite refurbished yard sale finds! l painted one side with chalkboard paint and have used this board for many parties. The hole in the top (originally precut for easy lifting) has been great for using different accent pieces to highlight each party theme. This large shamrock came from the Dollar Tree. Click on Irish Blessings for more sayings. We have a long narrow porch, so I was delighted to fill the empty space with a welcoming garden table. The window frame was found at a yard sale, the table at Goodwill and the table top boards were found at Lowe's. All the decorative items where found at church/yard sales or thrift stores, except for the wood props under the candles and the hanging metal flower vase that was a gift from my lovely Aunt B. Flowers and hanging planter found at an estate sale. Burlap and sign purchased from Hobby Lobby. Ok, if your familiar with my posts, you know I just love giving out individually wrapped tea with decorative beverage napkins. Once I discovered that they fit perfectly into clear cd sleeves I've been happy to share this neat presentation. When my grandmother moved years ago, I was given a book of postcards she had kept of my great grandmother's. All of the postcards are over a hundred years old and make for interesting conversational pieces and historical family reading. I have a vase with real and artificial lighted branches on which they hang in protective sleeves. I rotate them year round according to the seasons. While listening to the sounds of Praise and Celtic music, I enjoy lit candles, the smell of herbs and the decorative look of mossy stones. Love fresh clippings of Rosemary in water filled vases. Once they grow roots, I place them in planters and then move to the yard. Also, have fun framing decorative writings and placing the clippings around the frames. Kitchen pantry chalkboard sign with the famous shamrock illustration that Scotsman, St. Patrick used to explain the Holy Trinity to the people of Ireland! I also use fresh clippings of Rosemary to enhance the look of my table centerpiece as well. This Arthur Court tray was a wedding gift and is perfect for displaying tea lights, pebbles and mossy stones. Fresh clippings and herbs are simply wonderful, easy and useful in helping to decorate for our celebratory birthday dinner party. Here is a link where you can read about a special time capsule opening at this table. From our family to yours, we wish you a Happy St. Patrick's Day! Enjoy reading more about St. Patrick the missionary. As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:16-17 New International Version (NIV) Notice that the verse above mentioning the trinity is in Matthew, chapter 3 and verses 16 & 17. St. Patrick used the shamrock to explain that God was 3 persons in one, just as you have three hearts in one shamrock. Happy Out! Christina Stay humble & BOLD! I like to first look over the different types of invitation styles and then select a color scheme based on the invitation chosen. For this party, we sent out an Evite with a nice shade of blue and green in the layout. When I discovered these plates and napkins in aqua blue with avocado green trim (on sale at Hobby Lobby) I began to search with excitement for all the complimentary decorations that would complete the celebratory look of the party. Found these cups for cold and hot beverages at Party City, along with tablecloths (not shown) and wrapping paper all within our color scheme. The brown craft paper was purchased at Ollies. Had a scuffed up dry erase board in storage and decided to change it up using chalkboard paint from Hobby Lobby. Thought the wood trim could use some color, so I painted it with Valspar's Liquid Jade, that comes in a small 8oz. container found at Lowes. Instead of a guest book, bought a clip board at the Dollar Tree and found assorted scrapbook papers at Hobby Lobby. Then made a guest sign in sheet that could be placed in the baby's keepsake book. Used cut scrap paper for a decorative mat under this birdhouse. Designed customized pendants for the party with our color scheme in mind. All you need is decorative paper, scissors, glue stick, hole puncher, twine, measuring stick and alphabet stickers. Since most event facilities ask that you only used battery operated candles, I decided to dress our candles up with burlap, paper and twine. The dry erase, now new chalkboard turned out really well with handmade pendants. The family pictures added the perfect touch! This big chalkboard sign seen below use to be my son's old train table top, that I painted with chalkboard paint. It already came with a hole in the top for easy lifting, so I use different accent pieces, like the colorful pinwheel to make it fun and festive. (As requested, pictures of faces were blurred and gray boxes were inserted to hide names, in order to maintain privacy.) Love this family pic, even if the faces are blurred. Found this frame for a low price because the glass was missing. No problem, just paint the back board with chalkboard paint and turn into a menu board. In the pic below, the letter R snuggled too close to letter B and made letter A feel very sad. Making me feel a little O and C! I'm a big fan of recycled Scrabble tiles and tin cans paired with burlap . . . . . Knives, with 13 points, WINS! These decorative wood props where featured in another blog post. Really happy with how well they turned out. These centerpieces brought the beautiful outdoors IN with fresh clippings of Rosemary resting in tin cans wrapped with burlap and ribbons, along with Poinsettias and vines placed in recycled green glass wrapped with burlap, paper and twine. Tea lights sit in the mason jars with moss and burlap, the tops tied with twine. Around the bases I placed some more clippings, pinecones and mossy rocks found at the Dollar Tree. All these items resided on a dinner plate charger topped with burlap, which makes it easier to clear tables after the party. I precut the teal wrapping paper into nice square shapes to sit on top of the light green tablecloths and under the earthy centerpieces, which give the tables a nice pop of color. The color of the round tablecloths match the Poinsettia flowers just perfectly. Thank you so much for reading and I hoped you enjoyed your visit to humbe & BOLD.
