Big Open Wreath Using Hula Hoop

3/14/2017

If you're on a budget, but still looking for a WOW look, this might be for you! Hula hoops can be found at the Dollar Tree for you guessed it . . . one dollar.
Picture
I opened up the hula hoop, where it was taped together, to take the small pebbles out of it. I decided I liked it better as an open wreath. Remember, have fun with it and let the creative juices flow!

I used some green duck tape that was in my utility room to wrap around the hoop to cover the stripes. You could use green paint tape, floral tape or ribbon. Whatever you already own is what I recommend.

Look for what you already have around the house.

I also had some artificial greenery that I use at different times of the year, so I used it again for the wreath.

Simply Wow look for one dollar! The hula hoop was so light that I was able to gently rest it on top of dining light fixture.

Thanks for stopping by and happy out!

Decorative Way To Reuse Paper Bags

11/3/2016

I won't bring my own tote bags to Trader Joe's because their paper bags are too stinkin artsy and cute! In fact, I may be guilty of shopping there for the reusable, recyclable paper bags.
Picture
And I do reuse them! Here is just one creative way. I have some chalkboard surface pendants that stand out more with contrasting pendants behind them.

Just lay out your paper bag, pick a pair of scissors and get to work. Doesn't take long at all!
Picture
You may by now notice the clothes pins being used. I find it easier to change out words and to be able to get them in faster, if there is rain. Because the letters are done in chalk, the letters don't get messed up as much, if I stack them on top of each other.

The design on the bags really add a cute look to the pendants and almost doubles their size. Looks colorful with the fall leaves in the background. I will be using again them at Christmas and various events throughout the year.

A girlfriend of mine was moving and just happened to have two bales of hay and a left over pallet that she needed to have gone. I was happy to take those items and put this easy decor out for fall.  H A P P Y  H A R V E S T!

Podge It!

9/8/2016

It's amazing how you can transform the look of few items around your home by simply using Mod Podge and decorative paper. In fact, when I go to garage sales, I look for items that just need a little help. To get started, look around your own place and see if there is something that could use an extra boost. You can find all your supplies: Mod Podge, decorative paper, brushes, twine and a paper trimmer at Hobby Lobby.
Picture
Below is a candle that I bought for a dollar at a yard sale. Since the pink did not go with my décor - I podged it, wrapped it and tied it with twine. That's how I roll. It's just that easy!
Picture
Found some mirrors at another sale that were almost free! The trim around the mirror was okay, but now they stand out after spending half an hour and a couple of dollars. The Mod Podge works best when you paint a thin coat on the surface you wish to cover. You may also paint Mod Podge over the paper after it has dried to create more of a glazed look, but I did not for these two projects.

So don't forget this simple way of upgrading a few pieces you already have. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

With Love,
Christina

Colossians 1:16-17 - The True Glue
16 for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. 17 He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.
