Here are some pics from a baby shower that my friend, Tabitha, and I gave for a amazing couple that we hold close to our hearts. The couple's last name starts with the letter, O, so we went with an O Baby shower theme. Have fun getting creative! Once a train table lid that I found at a yard sale and painted with chalk paint, to becoming one of my favorite party pieces. This chalkboard is a staple of mine and has welcomed many guests over the years. Guests greeted with sight of sugar, spice and everything nice when they walked through the front door. Used upside down bowls to create the right height for certain food items, that doubled as centerpiece fixtures. Handmade pennant banner and flower bows were used to bring the eyes up while continuing the color theme. Love using retro Scrabble tiles for decoration! Also came up with an original gluten free butter cream vanilla icing recipe that I will post and link here. These large marshmallow pops are delicious and attractive as décor too. Just take campfire marshmallows (got mine at ALDI's) and insert paper straws (check The Dollar Tree first) then freeze. Day before party, you can take frozen marshmallow with attached straw and dip into melted chocolate of choice and then decorate with sprinkles and place in tall heavy jar to hold while drying. Once dry, they can be placed in a storage container and placed in fridge until ready to arrange. They hold up really well, and for this party I used floral foam to insert the straws in and then covered with moss. Also, if using tin can like in pic above, use rocks in bottom to counter the top weight. I found inspiration for marshmallows pops, the photo backdrop, water bottles and how to ice cupcakes from Caroline's Swaddles n' Bottles blog. Decorated foyer bannister with balloons, scripture coloring sheets for baby's room and painted canvas gift. On the backside of bannister, facing away from entrance, was where we made our photo station. To make this backdrop, take three plastic tablecloths from The Dollar Tree and cut into three inch wide strips, but stop at least half a foot from reaching the top. Tie the same two colors over one (for this I tied pink and yellow over the white) and repeat all the way to the end. This will give you a beautiful photo backdrop. Make a pennant banner or buy one to place above or over where you tie the strips. You can also use burlap or other decorations at the top as well. I used handmade floral bows on each end of my pennant banner. I will add link on how to make those soon. I prayed to the Lord, and He answered me. - Psalm 34:4 Coloring sheet from The Psalms in Color Coloring Book from choicebooks.org. My friend, Tabitha, made this beautiful watermelon stroller that served as a vibrant fruit bowl. Tabitha also put together these colorful veggie cups with ranch dressing. This made it easier on guests to enjoy. What fun celebrating with friends and family! He shall give His angels charge over you to watch you in all your ways. - Psalm 91:11 Coloring sheet from The Psalms in Color Coloring Book from choicebooks.org. Found this floral Duck Tape at Hobby Lobby (used 40% off coupon) and cut to match removed water bottle label and then rewrapped bottles with design. While I enjoy the planning process, decorating and seeing it all come together, I can also get stressed and focused on the wrong things. Then I am gently reminded to take off my Martha hat (Luke 10:38-42), and get my focus back on the reason for the celebration. This baby girl is an answer to prayer, as well as her parents getting together. After the shower, the ladies from this group photo gathered together in a private room to praise God, and to thank Him for this child. We got to pray over our friend, Dawn, for her pregnancy, her safe delivery, and her child's future. It was in that special moment that I was reminded what is most important when we gather. Remember to enjoy the planning and decorating process with a heart of praise and thanksgiving! Thanks for stopping by and blessings to you! Christina
